Riviera Nayarit Vacation Spots

The westernmost of the famous Galapagos Islands, Isabella houses many rare and unique species of wildlife like iguanas and exotic nesting birds. There are many archeological sites where you can view ancient rock carvings and the vestiges of ancient cultures. The Island was formed by six now merged extinct volcanos. Two of those, Volcan Ecuador and Volcan Wolf lie directly on the equator and rise to 5,600 feet above the sea, reaching above the clouds. The special geology produces a range of climatic zones in which an unusual range of animal and plant life thrive.
You can try a two-hour jungle boat trip through the mangrove swamps at La Tovara. See the teeming life, tropical birds, alligators, and other wildlife in their natural habitat. Swim in the warm waters at the safe gated “swimming hole” and grab lunch at the unique licensed restaurant.
Cable from tree to tree along a zip line through the jungle canopy in the tropical rain forests on the western foothills of the Sierra Madre mountains. See the world the way the birds and monkeys see it.
Take a guided tour the rainforest region by all terrain vehicle or off-road Mercedes-Benz jeep. Feel the tropical breezes that cool and moisten the forest. Enjoy the views of wildlife and tropical flora guided by experienced naturalists.
Travel by foot, ascending 3,000 feet through the tropical rainforest through the historic city of Compostela. It feels like going back in time when you discover the Huitchol fishing village and visit the Huitchol temple and view the symbolic indigenous arts.
The beaches at Riviera Nayarit are some of the loveliest on Earth. Travelers call it a strip of paradise 70 miles from Sayulta to San Blas.
Sayulta is a village of 4,000 people, surrounded by dense jungle, with a rich pre-Columbian Mexican history. You can see artifacts of the outposts of Aztec cities. The beach is known for its consistent river mouth surf break that was discovered by wandering surfers in the 1960s. This is the crown jewel in the Riviera Nayarit. It is a beachcomber’s paradise. Growing ecological awareness and strict zoning enforcement has maintained its pristine ecological environment.
Surfers consider San Blas a hotspot. Bahia de Matanchen is the main beach which will satisfy the demands of any surfer, water skier, sailboat navigator, or diver. The town is surrounded by tropical paradise. The ruins of 16th century fortress and 18th century temple provide a rich cultural surprise.
Litibu is an upcoming tourism destination along the Riviera coast. It features all the beauties of white sands, crystal Pacific waters and incredible natural wonders. New hotels are being developed. Real estate in the area is in high demand. The town of Litibu is just 45 minutes north of Puerta Vallarta and Bandaras Bay.
